There’s a moment Grace Farmer has laughed about for years — the moment Connor Whiteley, at the end of their very first date, looked her in the eyes… and fist bumped her.

The Merrimon-Wynne House: A Venue That Earns Every Moment
If you haven’t been to The Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, picture this: a grand historic home wrapped in southern charm, with a sweeping staircase, elegant mantles, and grounds that feel like they were built for exactly this — for people to fall in love and celebrate it.
Grace and Connor didn’t just choose the venue. They made it theirs. The mantles throughout the house were lined with framed wedding portraits from both families — generations of love stacked side by side — ending with a photo of Connor and Grace together. Guests walked through history before they ever took their seats.
The seating chart was a wall of letters — handwritten-style notes to their guests, a nod to the long-distance phase of their relationship during that first year together. Every detail in this wedding was intentional. Every detail told their story.
Our K2 Weddings videography team was on-site from 2 PM, capturing everything — the groomsmen in the suite playing pool and trading cufflinks Connor had gifted them, the bridesmaids in their PJs before the chaos of hair and makeup kicked into high gear, and the exterior drone footage of the venue itself. Grace had one specific request for drone coverage: we really want a good amount of it if able. On a beautiful March evening in Raleigh, we delivered.
A First Look on the Staircase, and a Dog With the Rings
Grace’s first look with her father Brian happened on that famous Merrimon-Wynne staircase — our camera positioned at the bottom, capturing his face as she descended. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, and we made sure the camera caught every second of it.
Then came the first touch — Connor and Grace, not seeing each other fully, just reaching through a doorway, exchanging hellos before the ceremony. Grace told us afterward that it was exactly what she needed to calm her nerves. It’s a quiet moment that made its way into the highlight reel, and it hits every time.
The ceremony itself started at 5 PM in the Merrimon-Wynne gardens. Grandparents walked solo — several of their spouses had passed, others divorced — and the processional had a weight and tenderness to it that you feel rather than explain. Connor’s brothers escorted his mother down the aisle. Grace’s brother walked with her mother. And Grace’s father Brian brought her down last.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for without knowing it.
The officiant called for the rings. And down the aisle trotted Sadie — Grace and Connor’s dog — ring box in tow, escorted by her handler, delivering the rings to the best man like she’d been rehearsing for months. The guests lost it. We’ve filmed a lot of NC weddings, and a dog pulling off ring duty with that much confidence never gets old.
The Reception: Dancing, Dinner, and a Dress Change
Cocktail hour filled the main house while Connor and Grace stole away for portraits. Guests gathered around the mantles, lingered over the seating chart wall, and started the evening exactly the way Grace had pictured it — warm, personal, and full of her family’s history on display.
The couple entered the reception at 7:10 and went straight into their first dance — no introduction, no pause, just the two of them on the floor the moment they walked in. The father-daughter and mother-son dances followed back to back, then Grace’s father Brian gave the first toast, followed by the best man and maid of honor just after 8.
By 8:45, Grace had changed into her second dress, and the dance floor had fully taken over. That’s the footage Grace specifically asked us to prioritize — reception dancing — and our team made sure to deliver.

Blue everywhere — their wedding color, chosen as a nod to where they met: Camp Sea Gull on the North Carolina coast in 2019. Grace, too shy to talk to Connor those first few days at lifeguard training, invented a CPR question she already knew the answer to just to start a conversation. They talked until the restaurant closed on their first date. He fist bumped her goodbye.
Seven years later, they fist bumped at the altar.
Grace is now an assistant wedding planner, having fallen in love with the industry while planning her own wedding. Connor gave her ten years at that summer camp and a lifetime of inside jokes. Together they built a wedding day that felt exactly like them — romantic, classic, specific, and full of meaning that only they and their people would fully understand.
